AFEW International is a Dutch non-governmental humanitarian public health organisation dedicated to giving support and a strong international voice on rights and on health access to at risk and underserved populations in the EECA Region. Since 2001 AFEW International has been working for all people in Eastern Europe and Central Asia region who face barriers in accessing health, justice, and social participation.
Underserved communities face significant barriers to accessing essential health and social services while experiencing high burden of disease and ill health, and are especially affected by HIV, TB and HCV, diseases of poverty, stigma, exclusion and ignorance.
AFEW has evolved over 20 years to form a partnership of independent local organisations working in the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Currently, the AFEW Partnership consists of four members operating in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Netherlands, and Ukraine.
The Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD) is an international research and education institute that works to develop sustainable solutions to major health problems. By taking a problem-oriented approach, AIGHD transcends the boundaries of traditional academic disciplines and integrates three fundamental activities into one institute:

AIGHD was initiated as a partnership between the Amsterdam UMC, the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). Today, it is a dynamic research and education institute that thrives on intense collaboration among experts from multiple disciplines including biomedicine, economics and social and behavioral sciences. With its interdisciplinary and translational approach, AIGHD addresses the most critical medical, social, economic and political challenges in global health and development that cut across national and political borders.
ILIA STATE UNIVERSITY, located in Tbilisi, is one of the leading research and educational institutions in Georgia. Representing a union of students and professors, ISU is a multifunctional educational and research institution offering a common space for academic and professional education and research with the joint efforts of its students, professors, teachers and researchers. The mission of Ilia State University is to create, disseminate, and apply knowledge to advance scientific progress and societal development, both locally and internationally.
